Let’s be real…cleaning can be a eye-rolling, tantrum-throwing task for kids. BUT it doesn’t have to be! Here are some tips to make cleaning fun for your kids so the entire family maintains a smile:
1) Turn cleaning into a game by setting a timer and challenging your kids to clean up as much as they can before the time runs out. This one works every time, especially if you have naturally competitive children!
2) Make cleaning a team effort by assigning tasks to each child and encouraging them to work together to complete them. Learning teamwork AND cleaning the house? That’s a win-win in our book.
3) Create a cleaning playlist with your kids’ favorite songs to keep them motivated and energized while they clean. Everyone loves a dance party, why not start one while cleaning?
4) Offer incentives such as a small reward or extra playtime for a job well done. We aren’t saying bribe your kids…but a sweet treat or later bedtime at the end of a job well done is always appreciated.
5) Make cleaning a regular part of your routine to eliminate the overwhelming feeling of a big mess. If it’s not on the calendar, does it even exist? Not in our books.
With these tips, your kids can learn to enjoy cleaning and take pride in their job well done! This will leave your house cleaner, your family less stressed and create an overall sense of teamwork amongst the family. Cheers to making cleaning fun for your kids!
